PSA & USFS Announce 2011 Coach of the Year Nominees

U.S. Figure Skating and the Professional Skaters Association (PSA) have announced the nominees for the 2011 Coach of the Year awards. The winners will be named Thursday, May 26 at the annual PSA awards dinner at the Westin Galleria in Dallas, Texas.
The recipients will be presented with an Edi Award (pronounced “Eddy”), named after World and Olympic coach Edi Scholdan. Scholdan, a past president of the PSGA (now PSA), was part of the 1961 U.S. World Figure Skating Team that died in the crash of Sabena Airlines Flight 548 while en route to the World Championships in Prague, Czechoslovakia.

Presented to a coach who has made a significant impact on an athlete’s performance and has distinguished him- or herself through years of successful teaching culminating in a special career achievement during the past year.

2011 U.S. Figure Skating/PSA Developmental Coach of the Year Award
In recognition of new talent and superior teaching technique for a coach who has a career record of helping athletes develop to higher levels of the sport and as human beings. A nominee for developmental coach must never have had a national champion and should be recognized for their work with skaters below the senior level.
