NHK Trophy Blog #1: Greetings from Sendai!

Hello everyone! We are in Sendai, Japan for the 2012 NHK Trophy, the last Grand Prix event of this season!!!!

Sendai is located in the Miyagi Prefecture, the area which was hit by the disastrous tsunami back in March 2011. Now it has been almost two years since that tragic day, and the Japanese people are still positive and persevering.

There are still many occurrences of earthquakes happening since then. One happened this morning around 2:45 a.m. I felt my bed and my whole room shaking!!! I heard later it was a light one, 4.0 on the Richter scale, nothing compared to the 9.0 in 2011.

So this NHK Trophy is definitely such a great opportunity for all of us to put out great performances over the next three days for the Japanese people. Tomorrow starts off with the Short Dance event, followed by the Men’s and Ladies Short Program events.
