Euros Blog #4 by Tanja Kolbe & Stefano Caruso

stefano-tanjaAnother amazing day is starting!!! Finally the competition!

Practice was really good. Our starting number was #3 after our training mates Marco & Charlene.

The ice was just a bit busy cause of the five couples on the ice, but everybody survived. This year is really difficult due to the new circular no touching step sequence because everybody is doing either clockwise or anti-clockwise.

We have to say unfortunately that the food in the hotel is not the best we ever had, but apart for this little complaint, we are fed…;)

When we came to the ice rink one hour before our short dance started, the opening ceremony was going on. We saw John & Sinead Kerr in the group. They always look great on the ice!!! The rink was crowded and was lovely to see all those kids cheering for all the skaters!

We did our five-minute warm up and everything was fine! Our coach, Barbara Fusar Poli, was really busy; she has two couples at this Europeans, and we were skating one after the other! So while Marco & Charlene were performing, we were with our German coach, Mr. Skotnicky. He is such a great coach, too!

We’re really happy with our performance.  We enjoyed skating and we had fun on the ice! It’s a pity for our Rhumba second level, we know we could have done better but anyway, a level 3 in circular in Europeans is wonderful! We really like the ice, the audience, and all the people around here. Now we are looking forward to the free dance, I think tomorrow we will fight for a stronger placement and we will try to prove that our skills deserve something more.

Thank you everybody for the support, hope you enjoyed this Europeans!

P.S. Just few words about results: for the 3rd place everything can happen, there are 7 couples in 5 points!!! What a competition!!!

Speak to you soon,
Peace&love
