Davis & White, Virtue & Moir to skip World Championships
Fresh off their Olympic performances, the top two teams in Sochi, Meryl Davis & Charlie White of the United States and Canadians Tessa Virtue & Scott Moir, have elected not to compete at the 2014 World Championships in Saitama, Japan.
Gold medalists Davis & White have joined the cast of the 18th season of ABC’s Dancing with the Stars. Davis has been paired with Maksim Chmerkovskiy and White will dance with Sharna Burgess. There’s also a new twist happening this season for the first time, called “The Switch-Up” — at some point during the competition, America will be given the power to vote and change up the celebrities’ pro-dancer pairings. In addition, they will headline the 20-city Stars on Ice tour in the U.S. from April 4-May 18th.
Virtue & Moir, who won silver, will skate on the Stars on Ice tour in Canada. The 12-city tour will go from coast-to-coast, starting in Halifax, Nova Scotia on April 25th and ending in Vancouver, British Columbia on May 15th.
