2015 JGP USA Blog #3: Loving the OTC
Hey, it’s me again!
It was another wonderful day here in Colorado Springs. We got to sleep in again which was heavenly-I don’t think I’ve mentioned how much I love the beds in the OTC, haha! After doing some school work, I headed down for breakfast with Logan, Igor, and Nathan. As usual, the food was perfect, and after that we just rested some more before practice. Our practice was great, and we did a full run-through of short dance which went well. After practice Logan and I had an interview with Joe Paisley for the Colorado Springs Gazette.
It’s such a blessing to be competing here in COS because as I said earlier, Logan’s family is here to watch and we have so many friends here that are cheering us on. After chatting with a few people I hadn’t seen in years, I headed back to the OTC with Igor. We were both super hungry so we zipped our way down into the dining hall and got some lunch. Devastatingly, by the time Igor wanted to go for dessert, the kitchen was taking it’s 15 minute break. Luckily for me, I convinced Igor that it was the perfect time slot to go and check out the OTC gift shop! Not only is there a USOTC shop with clothes, bags, water bottles, and trinkets but another shop full of Nike Olympic gear. After choosing an adorable ‘Road to Rio’ shirt for Adrienne, I could tell Igor wanted to get back for some delicious lemon ice cream, so I decided I would come back the next day.
I went back upstairs to await the shuttle back to the World Arena when I ran into my teammates, Sarah and Joe. We took the shuttle and then went to cheer on the men!! Nathan was incredible, and is in the lead with 77 points. Anthony also skated really well and is in 3rd, and Tomoki had an awesome and energetic program and is in 6th. There was a lot of amazing skating in the event, and I am so excited for all of the men! I wish I could have been there in person to cheer on the pairs but I need to get to sleep early for our early morning practice tomorrow.
Now, I am back in my dorm room on the heavenly bed feeling super pumped for tomorrow and a little bit peckish so I’ll get going.
Goodnight, world!
