2015 JGP USA Blog #1: #ColoradoSprings
Ice-dance.com is pleased to have Team USA member Chloe Lewis blogging for us from the Junior Grand Prix USA event in Colorado Springs.
Hi! I am so excited to be blogging about my JGP Colorado Springs experience!
Our first day started nice and early. When my alarm went off at 5:45 am, rather than rolling out of bed and onto the floor, I jumped out of bed and got ready for the day. If that doesn’t convey my excitement, nothing can! Soon after, we were on the ice for our final training sessions before leaving. Everything felt strong and ready, and finally it was time to go. We triple-checked our packing and hit the road. Next stop, Colorado Springs!
We won’t get into our rooms in time for me to finish the blog, so I am writing it now on the plane. Colorado Springs is an extremely special place for both me and Logan. Logan grew up in COS and when we first began our partnership we were flying back and forth from our hometowns to skate together, so I have spent lots of time there as well. Colorado is a stunning state, and Colorado Springs is a perfect city to represent it. I have been lucky enough to visit so many amazing sites in COS such as Garden of the Gods, Seven Falls, Manitou Springs (nearby), the World Figure Skating Hall of Fame, the Olympic Training Center, and so much more. Speaking of the OTC, ever since I first visited it 6 years ago, I have wondered what it would be like to live inside it with the professional athletes. This week, I finally will get a taste of it!
I don’t want to ramble on too long about all of the awesome things to see in Colorado Springs, so I’ll sign off soon but I almost forgot to mention that along with all the other incredible things that COS has to offer, it is where the U.S. Figure Skating headquarters are! It couldn’t be any more special to compete here for our country.
Can’t wait to report tomorrow!
