2013 JGP Poland Blog: Thanks for the memories Gdansk!

Phew! We made it back to Detroit after a (very very long) 20 hour travel day from Gdansk! It’s safe to say that we’re all a little sleepy today! Its been a couple days since my last blog and I am very excited to tell you that this week has been a BIG success!

Friday was the Short Dance competition at JPG Baltic Cup and the performance went great- we earned a seasons best AND a personal best and finished the day in first place! Our coach Pasquale was very happy because we received level 3 and 4 on our quickstep patterns which has proven from competition to competition this season to be very difficult to achieve. After we were done competing for the day, we took a taxi into the Old Town of Gdansk and had an incredible dinner at a restaurant called Goldwasser (pronounced Gold-Vasser) where we sat at a table on a patio that overlooked the canal that ran through Old Town. We ate a delicious meal (thanks again to Pasquale) and listened to street musicians play beautiful songs on their guitars. It was one of those nights that will be a memory that will never be forgotten!

Saturday was our last day in Poland and I am happy to say that we ended the trip on a very high note! Our free dance was a success and we earned our second JGP gold medal of the season, guaranteeing one of six spots to the Junior Grand Prix Final this December in Fukuoka, Japan! Jean Luc and I are thrilled and honored to be representing Team USA at such an incredible competition! It will be so neat to travel with the senior teams as well as the junior teams to an international competition and we cannot wait to go!

As I mentioned before, it was a very long travel day for Team USA yesterday, beginning with a 3:45 am shuttle to the airport! Three flights later, we arrived in Detroit! What an incredible week in Poland, and a big thank you to US Figure Skating for giving Jean Luc and I another incredible opportunity to represent Team USA overseas!

Talk to you soon IDC,

Kaitlin
